About Us

Indian Institute of Mineral Engineers (IIME) Bhubaneswar chapter is situated in the mineral heart of the India at the city of Bhubaneswar in state of Odisha having its headquarters (HQ) at Jamshedpur. The IIME is registered under the societies registration act no. XXI, 1860 with registration number as Bom 155/69 G.B.B.S.D. IIME Bhubaneswar chapter has its humble begining on 19th October 1993 at C/O IMMT, Bhubaneswar (then RRL Bhubaneswar).  IIME Bhubaneswar chapter is the professional body involved in making technical interaction with mineral based industries, R&D and academia for exchange of knowledge. The members of these societies are in different discipline with R&D / Academic / Industrial experience background in different mineral based industries. The major activates of the chapters include conducting conferences or seminars, brainstorming interactive sessions among R&D-Academic-Industries, industrial tours, technical invited talks, skill development, HRD trainings, interactions with government and its agencies, etc. Further, IIME Bhubaneswar Chapter encourages the mineral processing professionals and students by recognizing their contributions and providing honours and awards. In addition to this from the year 2022 the chapter will be starting an international journal “Mineral Processing Transactions” that will publish the latest research and innovations in the mineral processing and its allied areas.

The IIME Bhubaneswar chapter is supported by it's more than 190 IIME members; who are the main driving force in the success of the chapter. The chapter constantly encourages new talent and professionals in the mineral processing field to join the society and bring in their wisdom for the betterment of mineral fraternity.

President's Message

The mining and metal industries contribute significantly to our economy but also face challenges related to resource depletion and environmental degradation. Incorporating sustainability and circularity into these sectors has become essential for ensuring long-term economic growth.. In the last decade, the field of Mineral Processing has witnessed tremendous growth. The mineral sector plays a pivotal role in achieving the ambitious target of Vikshit Bharat by 2047.

The IIME Bhubaneswar Chapter is actively engaged in various initiatives to bring together all stake holders like professionals, researchers, experts in this domain and organising seminars, conferences, professional interactions, industrial tours, invited talks, training and skill development programs through collaborations and innovations . Additionally, we collaborate with government bodies and agencies to drive advancements in playing pivotal role in shaping a sustainable future in the mineral and steel sectors.

Our chapter thrives due to the dedication and expertise of its qualified and professional members, who have been instrumental in its success over the years. I firmly believe that the true strength of the IIME Bhubaneswar Chapter lies in the quality of its members - many of whom have been with us for years and consider this institution their extended family.
